Saving Documents

Moving and Copying Text

Find and Replace

You can save the time of retyping text you need to move or copy to a different part of the document by using the Cut & Paste Commands to move text and the Copy & Paste Commands to copy text. This saves you retyping text.

How to Move Text

  1. Select the text that you want to move (as shown in the diagram) by dragging the mouse over the text whilst holding down the left hand mouse button (see tutorial on Selecting Text)

  2. Go to Edit on the menu bar. Click on Cut.

  3. Click in the new position for the text using the mouse cursor.

  4. Go to Edit on the menu bar. Click on Paste. The selected text has now moved to the new position.

How to Copy Text

To leave the original text in place, you need to copy the selected text. To do this, follow the above instructions but instead of selecting Cut in Step 2, select Copy from the Edit menu.

TIP:
You can also use the   Copy button,  Cut button and the  Paste button on the standard toolbar to select the cut, copy and paste commands respectively.

If you have moved or copied the wrong text or moved or copied the data to the wrong location, click the undo button on the standard toolbar to undo the most recent change
